Crazy wipers!

Finally got my '03 D5 taxed and on the road today and generally i'm really pleased with it. I've got one nagging problem: When you put the wipers into intermitent mode i.e. one click down on the stalk they work fine for ages but then all of a sudden they go into 'hyper' mode (very fast and don't seem to stop until i click down one then back up again) and it's quite annoying. I don't think they're auto wipers as i'd have a button on the stalk itself wouldn't I? Just hope it's not going to be the start of some costly electrical problem. Any help would be appreciated. Ta Steve

Hi Steve, As GSMGUY says - a few things to check. Rain sensing wipers were standard on the SE spec cars - but I'm not sure if the pre 05MY had the button on the stalk - I have a feeling it was activated by selecting the intermittent setting of the stalk and sensitivity adjusted accordingly (happy to be corrected here) Cheers Ian.

Ian, yes you are right, select intermittent and adjust on ring - so to speak.. Mike

Thanks for the replies, I test drove a newer model not so long ago so assumed that the auto wiper button was always on the stalk. (Obviously not for older models) Will have a play around with it at the weekend perhaps but check for dirt on scren and wipers.
